About Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kochi

The University of Cochin was later reorganized as Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in February 1986. Founded in 1971, it has three campuses: two in Cochin and one in Kuttanad, Alappuzha, 66 km inland. The university is placed at fifth rank in India in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities with a world ranking of 1150.

Admissions are based on an All India Entrance Examination known as the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the university which includes papers for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Departmental Admission Tests (DAT) are conducted for some postgraduate courses.

CUSAT is structured into nine faculties: Science, Technology, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Humanities, Law, Marine Sciences, Medical Sciences and Technology, Social Sciences. CUSAT has 29 departments of study and research offering graduate and postgraduate programmes across disciplines in engineering, science, technology, humanities, law and management.
