The college, managed by the Zakir Hussain Memorial College Trust, is one of the oldest educational institutions of Delhi, tracing its history to a madrasah established in the 18th century . By 1825 the institution had developed into a college, then known as Delhi College. Under the aegis of the college the Delhi Vernacular Society was also established in 1843 which did pioneering work in translating European scientific literature into Indian languages.

VIVEKANAN COLLEGE Vivekanand a College was set-up by Delhi Administration with grants from the University Grants Commission in the year 1970, precisely with the objective of giving facilities of higher education to women of the trans-Yamuna areas in the capitl.

Vastu Kala Academy--The School of Architecture and Interior Designing was established by the Institute for Socialist Education in 1993.It offers a five year (10 semester) full time Undergraduate Programme in Architecture which is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the Council for Architecture under section 20 of Architect Act 1972 and also by the Directorate of Training and Technical Education, Delhi government.
