There are three faculty divisions at WII - Wildlife Biology , Wildlife Management and Wildlife Extension , besides two units, namely Ecodevelopment Cell and the EIA cell. Providing support are Computer Center, Library and Documentation Centre, Laboratory , Herbarium and Audio-Visual Unit.

Named after the divine Mount Kailas, the abode of Lord Shiva, Kailas Ashram is situated in the picturesque surroundings at Rishikesh (Uttaranchal), India. From the Ashram, which is located on a ridge, one enjoys an exquisite view of the Himalayas and the Holy Ganges in the East and of the forests in the west. The Ashram is spread over about 3 acres of land and houses temple(s), lecture hall, yagyashala, gowshala, kitchen, office, peethacharya niwas and facilities of 100 rooms

The study of Vedanta literature is the major activity of the Ashram.
