Assam Engineering College

Assam Engineering College was established in 1955 and was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The college is the first engineering college in the North Eastern region of India and is affiliated to the Guahati University, Guwahati. Initially the college was named Assam Civil Engineering College as it started with only civil engineering branch The college at present conducts 8 undergraduate courses in engineering and a post graduate course of Master Of Computer Application (MCA). The college has started postgraduate research in engineering leading to PhD. Degree of Gauhati University. The college is situated at a distance of 12 km from the heart of the Guwahati city. It has it’s own campus area of 400 acres on the banks of Deepor Beel, the world famous wetland, now converted into a bird sanctuary. Today the college has become one of the premier Engineering colleges of the country both in terms of technical manpower and academics. Assam Engineering College provides all round inputs that a student should receive for a strong foundation and helps to step out into the competent ant professional with confidence .

Assam Engineering College established in 1955 is located in Jalukbari area of Guwahati city. It is the premier technical institute of the entire North East India. It is the first under graduate engineering college in the northeastern India and today becomes a premier technical institute of the entire country. AEC has been the hub centre of many academic and supplementary activities in Assam for almost half a century. The college is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education AICTE. The college offers Bachelor courses (BE) on the fields of Electrical engineering,Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Sc. & Engineering., Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering., Industrial & Prod. Engineering., Instrumentation Engineering. & Mechanical Engineering. It also offers Masters courses on Computer Application (MCA), Computer Sc. & Engg (ME), Civil Engineering (ME), Industrial & Prod. Engineering(ME). It also offers Ph. D facility in Soil Mechanics & Hydraulics. All the courses are affiliated to Gauhati University, the educational hub of the entire North-East region.
