Assam Medical College (AMC) is situated in Dibrugarh, Assam. The college was established in 1947 and it was formerly known as Dr. John Berry White Medical School (founded in 1902). AMC holds the distinction of being the first medical college in the North-Eastern part of the country. According to a survey, AMC has been ranked amongst the top 10 medical institutes in India. The college is affiliated to Dibrugarh University. The MBBS course offered by Assam Medical College has been recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The college offers separate boys and girls’ hostels facilities for its postgraduate students as well as undergraduate students. It also has a hospital, which consists 1249 beds, tertiary care services, OPD services in 25 different specialties (14 basic specialties and 9 super specialties).
