Department of Physics
The Department of Physics was started in the very beginning of start of Annamalai University. Physics acts the core of science, as most of the inventions are brought forth by it. The Department of Physics has been sponsored with DST-FIST (44 lakhs). The Department has awarded 96 Ph.D and 171 M.Phil. degrees. The teachers and scholars of the Department has published 375 research articles. The Alumni of Physics Department have positioned themselves in Atomic Research Centres. Physics comprise of broad study of molecular structure and composition through spectroscopy research. They have got Rs. 10.66 lakhs for projects from UGC. Availability of Electron microscope and Atomic Microscope are boon for observing the specimens with accuracy. The Department of Physics extends the instrumentation facilities to other sister departments and universities.

The M.Sc. Laboratories (CBCS and Integrated) are equipped with instruments for class works.
