In the year 1975, away from the ceaseless bustle of the trading yards, the incessant passage of trains through this junction to every part of the country and the majestic gush of the Krishna waters through the spillways of the Prakasam barrage, some of the best minds were in conclave in Vijayawada. Each of them represented an acme of achievement in his chosen field, as diverse as, medicine, engineering, accounting, jurisprudence, industry and business. They were all the sons of the soil. It was not just the origins and the professional excellence, that was common to them. Each of them experienced the travails and hardships of traveling great distances and strange lands in pursuit of his education. They were in conclave to chart the course of action for providing the educational awareness of the highest standards at Vijayawada itself to meet the needs of the region, devoid of a single post-graduate or professional institution at that time. And thus was born the Academy of General and Technical Education, later renamed as Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education, on the suggestion of Sri Avula Sambasiva Rao, the former Chief Justice of High Court of Andhra Pradesh. The Academy in fulfilment of its mission, started the following institutions in Vijayawada. Siddhartha Academy began its activities in 1975 by founding a much needed Arts and Science college. It was later renamed as Parvataneni Brahmayya Siddhartha College of Arts & Science. It had the illustrious and venerable name of Sri. Anne Radha Krishna Murthy as the first Principal.
