Ramesh Nimmatoori, a young man who completed his Post Graduate Degree in Computer Science Engineering, rather looking for a career in industry or business thought of setting up an educational society. It was in 1989 that Aurora's Educational Society made a humble beginning by establishing a Degree College with four Departments, namely Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Electronics apart from one or two language teachers with 62 students registering in the first batch. The college was setup in a rented accommodation at Habsiguda, a suburban locality and later got shifted to Gandhinagar, a very busy middle class area. It was in 1992 December that the college shifted to another rented premises in narrow streets of Chikkadpally (next to Bagh Lingampally) in the midst of Hyderabad.

The Leap
In 1993, the college added new faculties of Biological Sciences and Commerce. The student strength suddenly rose to 600 that year. There was no looking back. By 1998, the Degree College alone had more than 2000 students studying in various branches. In 1995, the Aurora's Educational Society established a post Graduate College, which started two programmes namely, Masters in Computer Applications and Masters in Business Administration. In 1998, Aurora's marched to new heights when it established its engineering college in a sprawling campus of 600 acres. It had been a very aggressive foray in the business of education. Four other engineering colleges were established apart from two more post graduate colleges. Today, Aurora's happens to be one of the largest educational groups in the state of Andhra Pradesh with more than 400 faculty members and around 300 administrative staff and has more than 7500 students.

The Name and the Logo
Aurora's – the name for the college is taken from the Latin work – Aurora's borealis – the famous northern lights – meaning sun god Apollo. The name has been chosen as it synthesizes the Indian and Western tradition of representing the sun as a symbol of knowledge and power. Education is a penance for knowledge and Aurora's treats it thus. The logo has three critical components. The Italian colours – Italic and wild pink; the Egyptian pyramid – and the letter A. Most importantly the logo represents the spirit of the college – i.e. the temple of learning.

The Icon & Heritage
Aurora's is inspired by Chanakya, “The great Indian Teacher” who redefined the role of a teacher to be the torch bearer of society rather than being a teacher within the class room (brightest stars in Indian Firmament). He gave the clarion call “Tasmat Uttishta Bharata” – Oh! Indian Awake! Seeking Inspiration from this great Indian, Aurora's imparts education, firmly rooted in India’s rich traditional values with clear focus on modern science & technology.

The era of Globalization has brought a new power to compete and collaborate globally. Individuals can now ask, where do I fit in the Global competition and opportunities?

The problems and opportunities in the world now, are more complicated and inter-connected. The students thus understandably need help in the recognizing the risks and interests in the broad, yet critical concepts that characterize the global scenario. Hence, there is a need to re-structure the curriculum to incorporate the need of an increasing awareness about the global complexity and inter-dependence, master the ability to communicate across various cultures, appreciate differences and understand the difficulties in changing attitudes.

It is here, where the need for a concept “Global Citizenship” arises, which attempts to prepare the individuals to re-think their conceptions and to adjust to the new highly integrated world order and to understand the efforts to meet its challenges.

The attributes of a Global citizenship can be arguably deduced to the points below. A true Global Citizen should apparently be fully able to engage productively and effectively with the global academic, business, civic and cultural environments by possessing and demonstrating:

Excellent written and oral communication skills
The ability to work effectively in teams
A mastery of common business technology tools
The ability to analyze and solve complex problems
The sensitivity and skill necessary to succeed in a culturally diverse global environment
The flexibility to accept and initiate change
Solid leadership skills
Fluency in at least one language besides English
The level of cultural and aesthetic sophistication necessary for an understanding of and appreciation for arts
High levels of moral reasoning

The college achieves this by framing the values that run as an under-current to all the initiatives and activities undertaken. These five values directly consummate in the wholesome effective training of a complete Global Citizen through the initiatives based on their fulfillment.
