Maharashtra state's first Indian Institute of Management (IIM) came up in Nagpur, and is now officially called IIM Nagpur. This newly created IKM will start its first academic session in July 2015. IIM Nagpur will soon launch its website for students to gain proper information.
Initially, the IIM Nagpur will operate from its temporary campus at Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) until the permanent campus, planned at a 293-acre site in Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN), is fully ready to move. The students of IIM Nagpur will be able to use VNIT facilities such as library, laboratories, canteen, etc.
As per the direction of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), IIM Nagpur will be mentored by IIM Ahmedabad. IIM Nagpur will act as a sub-center of IIM Ahmedabad till its permanent campus is ready.
IIM Ahmedabad will also devise the admission criteria for the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) batch of 2015-2017 at IIM Nagpur. The 2015-17 academic session will start with a batch of around 60 students.
The other new IIMs will be set up in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
