International Conference on Marketing 2015 concluded

The two-day International Conference on Marketing (ICM) -2015 Contemporary Trends & Challenges Across the Globe organized by the Department of Commerce (Business Studies) Faculty of Commerce & Management of The IIS University was concluded on Saturday at Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj Samiti.

In the inaugural ceremony of the conference, Group CEO, Viacom 18,India Mr. Sudhanshu Vats was the chief guest while Mr. Daniel Sundelius, Head, Ericsson Supply Site, India was present as the guest of honor. Also, Prof Raj S Dhankar, Vice-President, Ansal University, Gurgaon had delivered the keynote address on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering Mr. Sundelius has discussed various marketing strategies and campaigns adopted by his organization. Also, he explained the importance of internet and network with a saying that we are moving to a network society.

Chief Guest Mr. Sudhanshu Vats has introduced a new word Glocal in context of marketing as according to him a product should be promoted not only on local level but also across the globe. While discussing the role of a brand in the society Mr Vats said that a product should not be promoted only on rational and emotional level but also it should serve the society through spreading social messages.

Towards the end of the inaugural session, Mr. Dhankar has enlightened the gathering with various techniques of marketing and also discussed how important it is to understand the behavior of customer.

Mr. Christophe Uny, Director, India Quality Check, Prof Mukesh Chaturvedi, Dean, Dept of Commerce, Sharda University, Noida, Prof. K Senthil, Karur University, Tamil Nadu, Mr. E. V. Gireesh, Neetal Narang, Dr. Arvind Kalia, National Head-Mentoring, Patrika Group, Mr. Vikrant Singhvi, Associate Director, PWC, Gurgaon and Mr. Shantanu Prakash, Associate Vice-President, Future Group are amongst the invited speakers on the occasion.

The valedictory session commenced on Saturday at Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj Samiti where Prof. Somdeo from ICSSR, New Delhi was the chief guest. Prof Princy Thomas of the university presented a brief report of the conference. 55 oral presentations and 21 poster presentations were presented during the two day conference. Service sector is providing 80 percent jobs in the country. Sustainability of the service sector is a big challenge because not only real sector’s growth is interrelated to the growth of service sector but also it is important to maintain the quality of the service.

Best paper and poster presenters were awarded on the occasion. In the poster presentation category, Nandini Rathi from the IIS University and Kritika Singh from Maharani College stood second while Rekha Sukhani and Pratishtha Bhardwaj from The IIS University bagged first position.

In the research scholar oral presentation category, Any Chawla from Jhunjhunu got second position while Deepika Kaurani from The IIS University bagged first position. While in the faculty oral presentation category Isha Jain for Gurgaon and Ms Shweta Kastiya from The IIS University scored second and first position respectively.

Towards the end of the valedictory ceremony, organizing secretary Dr. Ruchi Jain proposed a formal vote of thanks.
